Okecha Oscar bio

Oscar is 15 years old and is a CTT sponsored student in Senior 1.  He is ranked 1st in his class for academic performance.  Oscar came to SMK in 2008 while beginning Primary 2 with his father and his 4 brothers.  His father was a security guard at SMK for short time before getting a job elsewhere (once his father left a few years ago, he never returned). Oscar’s mother died of cancer.  Oscar is a well-rounded artist who enjoys painting, drawing, sculpting and crafting.  In addition, he enjoys playing cards and playing the trumpet and saxophone in SMK’s Marching Band. He is a member of the "Five Stars" saxophone group. Oscar aspires to be an artist when he grows up.  He enjoys painting things about Africa, landscapes, animals, and people.  Oscar finds his subject matter from stories he is told, as well as photos in books or magazines. Oscar says he sees the picture in his mind before he starts painting or drawing.  He always feels happy while painting and enjoys conversing with other artists in the art room. After he is done with a painting, he will stand back from it and study every detail of the painting until he feels okay about it.
